Location:
Guadalupe Ski Plex is located in Zorn, which is between
New Braunfels and San Marcos.
Directions from San Antonio: Take IH35 to the North
side of New Braunfels. Take the Kohlenberg/Conrads exit
#193 (if you get to the Watson exit or see the Texas
Ski Ranch on your right, you've gone too far!). Take
a right (East) onto Kohlenberg Road for approximately
1 mile. Take a Left at the "T", which is FM1101.
Go approximately 6 miles on FM1101. The gate into Guadalupe
Ski Plex is on the left, about ½ mile before
the large metal electric towers/lines.
Directions from Austin: Take IH35 to San Marcos. Take
the FM123 exit. Take a Left (South) on FM123 for approximately
10 miles. Take a Right on FM1101. Go approximately 1/2
mile on FM1101. The gate into Guadalupe Ski Plex is
on the right.
The Site:
Guadalupe Ski Plex (also known as Zorn) was built in
1987 specifically to accommodate competition water skiing.
The site features 3 lakes, 2 slalom courses, ski jump,
2 docks, boat storage and hundreds of trees for shade
and wind protection. The 17 home sites are privately
owned. The home owners' Association and Architectural
Committee manage the property and deed restrictions.
The site has recently undergone major changes and rebuilding.
An increased pumping permit was acquired and an electric
2,200 gallon per minute pump was installed. Buried pipes
and valves deliver water to lakes 1 and 2. Access to
the property and lakes is restricted to property owners
only. However, owners are usually willing to accommodate
the occasional skier looking for a ride.
